Leap Day Fun!

I know, I know, it has been FOREVER since my last post (as my father not so subtlety pointed out last weekend) I promise there are lots of very good reasons, but I'll get to that another time.

Right now it is leap day...although I'm am curious as to why God gave us an extra day of this weather. I guess He works in mysterious ways! It is cold and windy, and cold and windy, but I'm not one to complain :)

I decided that I would capture this extra day of the year in photos so in 4 years we can look back and see all that has changed between leaps! Enjoy!

See, blogging isn't the only thing I have neglected...
Bopper also dislikes the weather.
But is super cute and photogenic tonight :)
We currently in "house hunters" mode, so these piles of fliers are flooding our floor. You never know, we just might be living in one of these come next leap year :)

SILHOUETTE CAMEO!!

I have waited a long time for this purchase :) Finally took the plunge and ordered myself my very own Silhouette Cameo. It is a die cutting machine that can print as well...actually I'm pretty sure this thing can do anything, and I am so excited!  I have some more playing around to do, but am enjoying this crafty sidekick immensely :)

Here's day one:

Looking Back: 2011

I know, I know, we are well into 2012. This post should have been done about 2 weeks ago. But, better late than never, right?

2011 was an eventful year for the Schmelzer's. Take a look:

Our year started in Rockford, IL with one of the worst snowstorms on record.
Cecilia Kate turned 3! Look at that amazing Dora cake :)
NELLY! We had some Cousin Lovin time at a Nelly concert!
Mom, Molly, Ellie and Cece visited us in Illinois and we took a trip to the Windy City.
Lounging...
Dam to Dam run in Des Moines.
Camping after the race!
Cece stole my camera...
Some 4th of July fun with the Billups family.
Flashlight Tag!
We celebrated our first anniversary!
Then moved to Ankeny!
Stacy and Chris's Wedding in August!
Our new place in Ankeny.
Go Cyclones. Tailgate time!

Nelly + ISU Cyclones = AWESOME

Just thought I would share...This has a few of my favorite things all rolled into one: Nelly, Cyclones, and a Paul Rhoads Speech. It gives me goosebumps...

Go Cyclones!

Merry Christmas!

We had a wonderful Christmas and have a lot to be thankful for this year. We were able to spend time with family and celebrate the birth of Christ! We spent Christmas Eve in Muscatine with Noah's parents, Christmas morning in Princeton at Noah's grandparents, and Christmas day and evening at my parents in Belle Plaine.

Noah and his flight suit?!? I guess he'll be ready for Halloween!

THE iPad...Super fun :)

One of my gifts from Noah were some very sparkly earings! I am a lucky girl!

My new ISU jacket.

We got the Schmelzer's a Little Buddy Heater. They are all ready for cold weather tailgating now!

BACON! BACON! BACON! I think 18 lbs was eaten this year :)

I guess we all have Santa fooled!

Noah and Evan in their Bacon coma.

Uncle Rick making Smoothies in the closet :)

The "original" Billups grandchildren.

Now the grandchildren and "add ons"

White Elephant Gifts

The Kuhls

Mom and her fancy coffee maker.

Ellie and Cecilia opening gifts!

The Cronbaugh cousins came out for some fun in the evening. Here's Jenny attempting Noah's brainteaser. She finished it way faster than he did :)

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

The Schmelzer's are ready for Christmas! Although I didn't get all of my DIY Christmas projects done this year, there is still plenty of holiday spirit around our house. Here's a quick glimpse at "Christmas at the Schmelzer's 2011!"

I found these Odin and Bella ornaments while in Missouri visiting Grandma Sue. I think they are hilarious!!

Odin does not.

Here's Noah helping with the decorating. HA! So happy to have his picture taken! Merry Christmas!
